Flexible boarding is popular with pupils who would otherwise have a long journey into school and would like to break up the travelling during the week. It can also suit families with either permanent or temporary work commitments which make it difficult to manage weekly childcare and extra-curricular schedules.

The option of Weekly Boarding has proven popular over the years with families from Argyll, the Islands and the wider West Highlands. Using the West Highland Line, bus services or family ‘pick-up’, pupils can leave school on a Friday evening and return on a Sunday night or early Monday morning. This type of boarding can also work well for families based abroad but with grandparents or other family in the west of Scotland who can support young people at the weekends and short holidays.
