Alistair joined the board in February 2018 and was elected Chair in November 2019. He is a current T1 parent and second time round having been a parent until 2008 as well. By trade Alistair is a commercial insurance broker and independent financial adviser having run his family business since 1988.

Simon Ethells

Simon is a dual-qualified real estate lawyer with 35 years’ experience in the sector, working on the coordination and delivery of a range of complex property transactions across the UK. He has been instrumental in establishing a leading practice in Scotland offering UK cross border real estate services. A wide range of deal experience allows him to help clients beyond just legal advice. Simon is a Helensburgh resident with strong links to the school whose 3 daughters passed through to their huge benefit.

Dominic Fitzgerald

Dominic Fitzgerald was educated at Moray House Institute of Education, Edinburgh where he qualified with a Bachelor of Education Honours’ Degree. Dominic’s first teaching position was within a state school in Leicestershire before moving to the North East of England to take on a Director of Rugby role at King’s School, Tynemouth. From there Dominic returned to Scotland, working at The Glasgow Academy as Head of Physical Education and Games and Lomond School as Housemaster and Head of Boys’ Sport.

Dominic returned to England in 2013 to take up the position of Senior Master (Assistant Head) and Director of Sport Fulham School before moving on to become Senior Deputy Head at Homefield Preparatory School in Sutton, where he completed his National Professional Qualification for Headship. In 2020 Dominic took on the Headship of St. Andrew’s School, guiding them successfully through COVID, before implementing a merger with another local independent school to create a brand-new senior school in Surrey. Dominic served as Executive Head of Halstead St Andrew’s School last year, ensuring there was a smooth transition to the new school, before returning to Scotland to be closer to family and will be taking up Headship of Queen Victoria School, Dunblane in August 2025.

Dominic is currently involved in consultancy work, is looking to study for his Executive Coaching Qualification this year. Dominic has extensive experience of school governance and strategy as a Head and Deputy Head, he was also Chair of the Education Committee, was a member of the Strategic Committee and sat and Full Board at Rokeby School in Kingston upon Thames.
