While the grown ups had all the fun at the weekend, it was now the turn of current Lomond pupils to celebrate 40 years of Lomond with a fantastic fun day.
In their breaks from building work our young people got to know the villagers and had lots of fun running games and activities for the children there. They even pitched in with the cooking!
The teachers accompanying them, including Dr Cotter, reported that they are extremely proud of our pupils who have coped so well and fully embraced the experience. During their time in Tazania, the group left the village to climb Mount Meru which is Africa’s highest mountain at 4,600m. And they couldn’t leave Tanzania without seeing a bit of Kilimanjaro so half of the group visited the starting point for those tackling the famous peak, while the rest ventured to see some stunning waterfalls; the museum of the local Chagga tribe; and to the market where they had a go at pounding, grinding and roasting coffee.
Our fantastic Lomond School team completed their building work at Ngaroni primary school; exceeding the target for work and fundraising. Foundations of the new classroom were laid, ground was levelled and walls were started for the next group to continue later this month. A fantastic effort! We can’t wait to hear a full report at the start of term.
