How to Apply
We accept applications for day places for children from ages 3 to 18.
Whilst the majority of our pupils join us at key stages, our small class sizes and flexible curriculum allow us to provide a welcoming and smooth transition for pupils joining throughout the school year, at any stage in their education.
At Lomond School we provide a rounded education and cater for a range of levels of ability. We do not operate a policy of academic selection, but we carry out some assessments prior to entry to ensure that pupils can access the academic curriculum on offer and are correctly placed in the right year group. We will therefore wish to obtain as much relevant background information about pupils as possible, to ensure the best start in class.
Initial Enquiry
If you are thinking about applying to Lomond School, the first step is to contact our Registrar who will provide you with information and literature and can arrange a visit to tour the School and meet with key staff who would normally include the Head of Junior School and/or Principal. Following your visit, you will have the opportunity where appropriate to enrol your child(ren) on a taster session, where they will have the opportunity to experience a day in Lomond School.
For those looking for places in Nursery, please be aware that children who are pre-registered for Junior 1, or those who have siblings who attend Lomond School are prioritised. Due to very limited spaces, we advise applying early.
Applying
Once you have decided to proceed with an application, you should complete, and submit, an Application Form, which will be provided by the Registrar. This should be returned along with a non-refundable £100 registration fee made payable to Lomond School.
Assessments
All assessments are carried out to ensure that pupils can access the academic curriculum and are correctly placed in the right year group. From Junior 1 (Primary 1) to Transitus 2 (Primary 7) entry, assessments are carried out informally in class, usually during a taster day. From S1 entry upwards, applicants will be invited to spend a day in School to complete assessments. Alternatively, arrangements can be made for the assessments to be completed online.
Offers and Acceptance
Offers will usually be made within two weeks following the assessment/taster day. To confirm acceptance, you will be required to sign and return the Parental Contract along with a deposit of £200 for day places and £500 for boarding. Please note that offers are subject to receipt of a satisfactory pupil testimonial from the existing school and on completion of all the necessary admissions documentation prior to the agreed start date.
